As a volunteer organization we depend on your donations to fund is in purchasing the necessary equipment to protect your family and property. We train year round with all of our equipment and have additional seasonally training; such as ice rescue training in the winter or car fire training in the summer.

Our fund drive process:
Our fund drive process begins with an initial mailing sent to every resident in our area (9 square miles). We then wait for a given time frame while donations are being sent to us (Pompton Falls Volunteer Fire Department Company #3, 130 Jackson Avenue, Wayne New Jersey 07470). When we recieve a donation we enter into our Fund Drive computer program (we have automated fund drive entry by implementing a bar code system on all mailings). After a given timeframe we print up a second round of letters and send them only to those residents who did not donate during the initial mailing. We then wait again and enter donation information into the Fund Drive program. After the second mailing we compile a list of residents who have yet to send us a donation and then go door to door.

Some residents like to donate in person for various reasons (some have kids that enjoy seeing the firefighters and the apparatus, while other just prefer to do so in person). Each firefighter helps out in the door to door donation process and on average visits approximately 200 homes seeking donations. Altough we do not mind visting you, our preferred method for receiving donations is by mail.

Please note: we never solicit funds through the telephone or through a third party agency. When we go door to door we wear our uniforms, which consist of a top hat, shirt and hat badges, white shirt with patches (Maltese cross - the symbol of protection and honor for firefighters), and blue pants. If you are still uncertain about the legitimacy of the firefighter at your door, you may request to be shown an official firefighter ID issued by the Township of Wayne.
